Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Graduate Program Support, and in partnership with the Dean of the Graduate School, and academic and administrative units, the Coordinator of Graduate Student Success plans, implements, and evaluates initiatives and programs to enhance graduate student retention, persistence, degree completion, and post-graduation opportunities.

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Actively participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive and data-informed program to enhance graduate student retention, persistence, degree completion, and post-graduation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative units to review and resolve barriers to graduate student retention, persistence, and degree completion.
  • Monitor individual students’ academic progress and connects students with support services using early intervention strategies and support services.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across campuses to develop retention initiatives responsive to specific program and student needs.
  • Maintain graduate student records, track progress, and provide reports to stakeholders.
  • Assist graduate students who are experiencing academic challenges.
  • Ensure success initiatives adhere to established policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Support graduate student retention and success events such as graduate student orientation, peer mentoring, Graduate Teaching Assistantship support, and three-minute thesis competition (3MT).
  • Participate in efforts to seek extramural funding to support graduate student retention, persistence, and satisfaction initiatives.
  • Assist with graduate program reviews, annual surveys, and reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, business administration, or a related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of applicable work experience.
  • Experience in lieu of education may be substituted on a one-for-one basis.

 

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience working with graduate programs in a higher education setting.

  • Experience working with graduate programs and graduate students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills paired with detail orientation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies and regulatory requirements.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
