Job Description:

The Department of Teacher Education invites applications for a Coordinator of Field Experience and Student Teaching to begin May 13, 2024. The Department seeks an experienced educator who is knowledgeable about GaPSC policies and procedures and who is interested in transitioning to a role in supporting the preparation of future K-12 educators in Georgia. Ideal candidates display the following characteristics: strong communication, detail orientation, team collaboration, proactive problem-solving, and confidence with school administrators.

Primary responsibilities include tracking and verifying requirements necessary for Teacher Education candidates to secure Georgia certification and processing all paperwork; assisting with field experience/student teaching placements during both fall and spring semesters; ensuring students who apply for a field experience in a school have completed background checks on file in the office; receiving and maintaining all initial applications to the Teacher Education Program; and tracking all education majors to ensure compliance with rules and regulations set by both Berry College and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).

The Teacher Education program values hands-on learning and the development of practical skills starting in the first year of the program. Field placements and student teaching opportunities are augmented by two on-campus laboratory schools, a child development center (3-4 yr old's), and an elementary and middle school (K-8); Berry College also partners with Rome City Schools and the South Rome Alliance to operate an early learning center in South Rome (3 yr old's). Teacher Education has a long history of service and community outreach, with Berry students collectively contributing over 50,000 hours of service to local schools every year with existing, collaborative agreements with most P-12 schools in the region.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Master's Degree in Education preferred (MAT, MEd, etc)
  • 3 years of teaching or administrative experience in P-12 school settings
  • Basic proficiency with spreadsheets, digital forms, and cloud file management
