Position Title Coordinator of Campus Engagement

Position Summary
The Coordinator of Campus Engagement is responsible for supporting and enhancing the student co-curricular experience at the University of the Incarnate Word. This position advances student development by creating and implementing campus programs through supervision of the Campus Activities Board; supporting student clubs and organizations; overseeing the Greek Life system; and assisting with the planning and delivery of other student development and leadership initiatives. The Coordinator of Campus Engagement reports to the Director of Campus Engagement.

Job Duty Name Supervision, Advising and Training
Description of Job Duties
  • Supervise the Graduate Assistant for Greek Life and the Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement and Communications.
  • Recruit, hire, train, advise and develop the Campus Activities Board team of student leaders.
  • Oversee the administration of and serve as a resource to existing and new student organizations in collaboration with Student Government Association.
  • Assist the Director of Campus Engagement and the Graduate Assistant for Campus Engagement with the supervision of Team Red-Campus Engagement student employees.
  • Assist in developing and facilitating student leadership training and opportunities.
Job Duty Name Fraternity and Sorority Life
Description of Job Duties
  • Serve as the primary liaison and/or advisor to the Greek individual chapters and related committees.
  • Serve as an advisor/liaison internally and externally for Greek Life and related matters, including working with national and regional Greek organizations’ leadership offices, councils and boards.
  • Design, implement and assess a variety of student leadership programs including the Greek Point System and other required programs.
  • Meet with Greek individual chapters to assess needs and develop strategies to assist student leaders in addressing recognized needs including recruitment, retention, engagement, leadership development and event planning and risk management.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments in the planning and implementation of special programs including, but not limited to Homecoming, Greek Week, Welcome Weeks, Cultural Celebrations, Family Weekend, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Duty Name Communication and Program Implementation
Description of Job Duties
  • Assist Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement and Communications in the creation and execution of “What’s the Word” – a monthly newsletter sent out to the UIW community.
  • Assist with uploading all Campus Engagement and University-related flyers on the Student Engagement Center digital marketing screens.
  • Plan and execute programming efforts (large-scale, small-scale and virtual) for UIW community.
  • Collaborate with various departments to host events and programs for UIW Community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to assess student programs and utilize the data to make decisions.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Work Experience
One (1) year of experience in student activities or other area related to Student Affairs. Note that student experience in said area will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related area.
  • Professional experience in student activities.
  • Experience in fraternity and sorority advising, and leadership.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.
Physical Demands
Ability to bend/stoop, push/pull and lift up to 20 pounds with for campus events.
