Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Aquatics is a full-time staff member under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Aquatics. This position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of aquatic programming, aquatic events, and safety equipment at Soderholm Family Aquatic Center, Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center Cove Pool and Memorial Union Swim Area. The Coordinator will provide leadership by creating and managing an aquatic student maintenance team, event operations, equipment inventories, and budget planning. Additionally, this position will directly oversee the management and operations of pool mechanical systems at the Bakke Cove Pool, as well as provide support at Soderholm, as needed. This individual works directly with professional staff and student staff to coordinate job duties, independently assess problems, and develop solutions. Primary working hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, with the understanding that nights and/or weekends will be required.


Responsibilities:
Manages a comprehensive recreation program. Oversees and performs activities including policy development and enforcement, program development and expansion, participant eligibility, and/or risk management. May supervise staff.
  • 25% May assist with the implementation of the personnel resource allocation plan including hiring, training, supervision, and resolution of personnel issues
  • 10% Assists with the management of applicable software systems for program registration, sport management, and participation data
  • 5% May assist with monitoring and auditing the unit budget
  • 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources to support the operational plans of the program
  • 20% Implements risk management procedures and ensures adherence to institution and divisional policies
  • 10% Assists in setup, operation, storage, and maintenance of facility and equipment during scheduled aquatic events
  • 10% Oversees the management and operation of pool mechanical systems at the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center Cove Pool

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree


Qualifications:

- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience and/or education in aquatic staff supervision or pool operations
- Experience with routine care, maintenance, proper storage, functionality, and management of aquatic safety and programming equipment
- Knowledge and understanding of setup and operation of competitive aquatics event equipment including electronic timing, judging, and scoring systems
- Experience hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student-staff
- Ability to perform job responsibilities independently and in a team setting
Required Certifications:
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/ First Aid/ CPR & AED
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or ability to obtain within first 3 months of employment
Preferred Certification:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) .


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
This position requires most work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location, up to one day per week, if desired.

Salary:

Minimum $48,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary range for this position is $48,000 up to $54,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
