Job Description

Friends University is seeking to fill the Coordinator of Advancement and Campus Events position at our Wichita, Kansas campus location. The Advancement and Campus Events Coordinator will coordinate and serve as project manager for all advancement and external events. He/she will collaborate with appropriate university stakeholders, in-house staff, and outside volunteers, as well as outside vendors, in the successful execution of events. This person will serve as a resource for other university divisions hosting on-campus events. They will work to schedule, coordinate, and manage university facilities for external groups. In addition, this person will manage the campus scheduling software that is used for scheduling all non-academic campus reservations. Due to the nature of the job, hours may vary and will require occasional evenings and weekends.

Skills & Requirements

Experience

Six months of similar or related experience required.

Education

Associate’s degree required.

Interpersonal

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner is required. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

Physical Requirements

The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of sitting in an office environment, repetitive operation of computer, office equipment such a copy machine, calculator, etc. Occasionally lifts light objects (up to 20 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity. May walk across campus to attend meetings in other buildings.
