Position Summary
The principal responsibilities of this position are to provide research and technical support services to laboratories in the Center for Cardiovascular Research (CCR).


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise operation of the CCR common tissue culture facility.
  • Present guidelines and sterile technique training to new users.
  • Oversee general use and day-to-day responsibilities to provide smooth functioning of the tissue culture facility.
  • Coordinate annual biosafety hood certifications and incubator calibrations.
  • Order gases for incubators and bill laboratories for usage.
  • Responsible for CCR common lab equipment.
  • Maintain asset record inventory and participate in asset audits.
  • Coordinate equipment service agreements, moves, calibrations, routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Train new users on the use of common equipment.
  • Oversee CCR glassware washing and autoclaving.
  • Responsible for CCR liquid nitrogen tanks.
  • Ordering and billing.
  • Training Safety compliance.
  • Serve as an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the CCR.
  • Enforce WUSTL safety compliance.
  • Assist with organizing and supervising CCR laboratory repairs and renovations.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and two years of relative work experience.
  • Working scientific background with knowledge of research process and equipment and with extensive knowledge of bio-safety requirements/regulations.
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Two years’ related training/experience in science related field.

Salary Range
$16.24 - $27.63 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
