Job Summary
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Coordinator – Internships and Employer Relations
As the Coordinator of Internship and Employer Relations (CIER) you will get a chance to make a direct impact on the professional development of our students by creating faculty, staff, and employer communication, as well as engage in developing employer engagement projects. The CIER be able to contribute to a variety of tasks related to employer relations, all which aim to strengthen our working relationships with businesses and agencies. You’ll coordinate with Deans, Directors, Faculty and College Coordinators to assist with internship and experiential learning programs. This includes, but is not limited to career positions, internships, co-ops, job shadows, site visits, co-branding, campus visits, and posting positions.
EWU has over 120+ majors, 4 colleges, and serves a student population of which 32% identify as first-generation. Conditions of Employment

This position is covered by the Public School Employees’ Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least one year of full-time experience working with a broad range of internal and external constituents
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor and the ability to build partnerships with employers
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a fast-paced environment, including ability to multi-task and meet overlapping commitments
  • High level of cultural humility and experience working effectively with marginalized populations
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends to staff scheduled campus events.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing relationships with employers and community organizations
  • Experience working in university relations management

  • Support Career Advisors with individual students and student groups interested in internships and experiential learning
  • Assist academic units with internships and experiential learning programs
  • Evaluate best practices with regional experiential education professionals
  • Establish internship and volunteer opportunities locally and regionally
  • Develop and expand internship/experiential learning programs in concert with academic departments
  • Coordinate community-identified needs with faculty participating in experiential learning
  • Manage guidelines, contracts and insurance programs for students and faculty engaged in experiential learning
  • Conduct assessment and follow-up studies through electronic communications, direct mail, and focus groups
  • Advise faculty regarding incorporating experiential learning into the curriculum.

  • Establish and cultivate working relationships with businesses and agencies to promote internship, volunteer, and professional opportunities
  • Coordinate with Career Center staff and departmental leadership across campus to share recruiting trends and collaborate on special projects.
  • Assist with event planning and coordination for on-campus recruitment events and professional development.
  • Represent Eastern Washington University with community-based organizations/events.
  • Conduct site visits to include campus, local, and regional employers to maintain relationships as well as further expand experiential learning opportunities.
  • Work with the Associate Director for Employer Relations to build and manage the employer partnership program.
  • Represent EWU at local and regional meetings sponsored by funding/oversight agencies such as HECB/WACC.
  • Assist the Associate Director for Employer Relations in managing the employer relations tasks in Handshake.
