MALCOLM X COLLEGE

 

Malcolm X College School of Nursing is dedicated to providing our students with the best educational experience. All three of our specific programs focus on preparing our students to become nursing professionals that provide quality patient care in the healthcare industry.  The School of Nursing at Malcolm X College is seeking a Coordinator of Health Careers to support the School of Nursing. The Coordinator of Health Careers performs responsible administrative, program support, student/customer services, and related duties as Assigned. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

    • Assists and works with Admission Specialists and program administrators to coordinate and provide individual and group informational sessions regarding the School of Health Sciences nursing and allied health programs. 
    • Organizes, prepares, and disseminates informational packets on health career programs, including program entry requirements, placement testing, required state fingerprint and criminal background check, and health immunizations.
    • Assists with data collection, the maintenance of spreadsheets and databased, and the preparation of reports regarding MXC’s occupational career health programs.
    • Assists with projects relating to health science programs, retrieving and collecting data, and preparing information for inclusion in reports, proposals and other documents, as directed by supervisor or project staff. 
    • Exercises discretion when working with confidential information. Assists in maintaining and updating current and prospective student data such as health data, criminal background checks, and signed consents. 
    • Processes and maintains records and documents relating to program enrollment and completion including program applications, student progress and performance, completion rates, and type of degree or certification earned by students. 
    • Drafts, composes, and prepares standard correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other documents as directed by supervisor or project staff.
    • Maintains spreadsheets and updates student records and program information using various computer systems, databases, and software applications (e.g. GradesFirst, PeopleSoft). 
    • Participates at health careers events to assist program administrators and faculty, providing general information about MXC, and distributing health program information to new and prospective students.
    • Schedules, organizes and coordinates student-centered events such as Orientation Sessions, career days, and workshops for prospective and current students. 
    • Organizes and handles the logistics for departmental meetings and other activities, ensuring proper set up of audio-visual equipment, set up of meeting room, and other organization details. 
    • Assists in updating content on CCC’s website, positing information on the internet, intranet and social media networks as directed. 
    • May assist in entering, updating and maintaining information regarding course offerings for health career programs using designated software.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • An Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
    • Two years of work experience in an administrative, secretarial, or clerical position 
    • Experience working in a healthcare environment or community college setting is highly desirable 
    • Must be able to demonstrate excellent communications and customer service skills 
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
