Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Center for Student Success works directly with students to help solve problems and be successful throughout their college career. Through connections with other university departments and offices, the Center for Student Success supports all ECU Pirates.
Job Duties
This position will work within the Center for Student Success to:
  • Oversee marketing and outreach for the Center for Student Success Hubs including tabling on campus, developing and scheduling social media posts, and creating marketing materials for LCD screens promoting career, health & well-being, and financial wellness services.
  • Collaborate on Center for Student Success initiatives including planning, creating awareness campaigns, content development, and execution of services to positively impact the holistic success and well-being of our students.
  • Update and maintain content on the Center for Student Success website.
  • Create and offer student success planning tools such as:

o Positive study habits
o Weekly planning schedule
o Master study schedule
o Determining student learning styles and how this impacts academics
o Prioritizing responsibilities
o Determining participation in student organizations
o Navigating and identifying resources/offices on campus
o Time Management related to academics as well as social activities/events
  • Provide support for a variety of activities within the Center, including handling drop-in or scheduled meetings with students, tabling during campus events, creating engaging programming or workshops, and managing marketing and social media communications.
  • Collaborate on financial wellness initiatives including planning, creating awareness campaigns, content development, and execution of services to positively impact the financial well-being of campus constituents.
  • Provide financial education on the topics of Budgeting, Credit, and Debt Management to students covering the entire undergraduate and graduate student life cycle from pre-enrollment to degree completion. Platforms include online learning, workshops and presentations, and one-on-one financial coaching appointments.
  • Update and maintain content within the online Financial Wellness Canvas course
  • Assist in supervising/training the undergraduate peer-to-peer financial wellness interns

The Coordinator of the Student Success Hubs is based upon a flexible weekly schedule of approximately 40 hours per week during the academic semesters. The Coordinator may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed for events or programs
Minimum Education/Experience
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree. Qualified applicants should exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and organization skills; they should also have experience working with college students in one-on-one and group settings.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Preferred candidates will have a Certification in personal finance such as the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Financial Social Work (FSW), Certified Financial Peer Mentor (CFPM) or another related credential. Preferences would also include knowledge of student loans/debt including debt reduction, elimination, and federal student loan repayment plans, and training in Motivational Interviewing or other related clinical counseling training.
Candidates should be detail-oriented, exercise high-levels of independent judgment, strong facilitation and organizational skills, and have experience utilizing technology and social media such as CampusGroups/The Pirate Experience, online documentation systems, and Microsoft Office.
