The Coordinator for Student Conduct is responsible for the resolution (i.e., investigation and adjudication) of incident reports regarding alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct by students and recognized student organizations, including investigating and adjudicating Title IX and non-Title IX sexual misconduct cases.  The Coordinator will also assist in developing and executing a conflict resolution program as part of the Student Conduct process.



  • Investigate alleged policy violations by students and recognized student organizations in a prompt, thorough, and equitable manner by reviewing initial reports, meeting with involved individuals, organizing and assessing information to determine if a policy violation occurred using the preponderance of the evidence standard, and assigning appropriate sanctions when appropriate. May serve as chair of formal Code of Student Conduct hearings.  
  • Assist with the administration of the non-academic Code of Student Conduct by interpreting University policies, Residence Life Community Living Standards, Title IX and Sexual Harassment Policy and Procedures, and the BGSU Code of Student Conduct.  Assist with coordination of the annual Code of Student Conduct review process and coordinate the Personal Responsibility Workshop and daily City Blotter review process. Provide programming on topics related to behavioral expectations and reporting mechanisms, collaborate with other areas across campus (e.g., Police and Residence Life, and assist with training of other Conduct administrators and/or formal hearing boards. Serve as a resource to students, parents/families, as well as faculty and staff regarding conduct matters as well as student issues and emergency response.
  • Serve as an investigator for assigned Title IX and non-Title IX Sexual Misconduct cases involving students by conducting prompt, equitable, and impartial investigations into complaints.  Investigations will likely include identifying and interviewing relevant parties; identifying, gathering, and assessing/analyzing information pertinent to the investigation; applying relevant policies; writing investigatory reports; and making findings of fact for assigned cases.
  • Assist with designing, implementing, and assessing a conflict resolution program as part of the Student Conduct process that includes services such as mediation, conflict coaching, facilitated dialogue, and restorative justice circles to help create a safe, just, and peaceful community. 
  • Respond to student emergencies and provide crisis intervention and management as needed. This function will involve serving in the rotations for the Office of the Dean of Students’ Drop-In and Dean on Duty programs as well as participating as a member of the Expressive Event Team.
  • May directly or indirectly supervise assigned graduate interns and practicum students working in the Office of the Dean of Students.
  • Participate and represent the University, division, and department on committees and at University functions.  Provide assistance and support to the Office of the Dean of Students and complete other duties as assigned.  

 



Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree required in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Guidance and Counseling, or related field, or a Juris Doctorate.
Successful candidate must have Master’s degree conferred at the time of application. 

The following experience is required:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience professionally or two (2) years as a graduate assistant investigating and/or adjudicating conduct cases

The following experience is preferred:

  • Experience working in Residence Life, Student Conduct, or Fraternity & Sorority Life
  • Experience in applying conflict coaching, conflict resolution, restorative justice, facilitated dialogue, mediation or similar processes to a variety of higher education settings
  • Experience conducting student organization investigations
  • Experience conducting hazing investigations
  • Experience with assessing/evaluating student learning outcomes
  • Knowledge of case management system software (e.g., Maxient)
  • Supervision of students or staff members
  • Knowledge of civil rights laws including Title IX, federal and state laws and policies
  • Experience interpreting or enforcing policies
  • Experience with crisis response/management

Salary

Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 354. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.
