About UC Blue Ash

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications to fill a Coordinator for Student Social Services Support and Wellness Awareness at UC Blue Ash College. UC Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio, located in Blue Ash, Ohio with an enrollment of approximately 5000 students. This is a part-time hourly position for the 2021-2022 academic year with opportunity for annual renewal. The coordinator will be hired for a 34 week appointment (mid-August – late April) at 25 hours per week. This will be considered a 45% FTE position.


Job Overview

The Coordinator for Social Services Support and Wellness Awareness will provide needs assessment, referral and monitoring for students with economic distress and related issues, and as well provide non-therapeutic intake and appropriate referral for students with mental and emotional health issues. In addition the Coordinator will offer educational outreach on mental health awareness to the UC Blue Ash community, participate in a college-based mental health awareness task force and serve on the university’s CARE team which addresses needs of students in crisis. 

 

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, the Coordinator will collaborate with various campus, university and community offices and resources. This will include UCBA Counseling Services and UC CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services), as well UC Blue Ash faculty, Accessibility Resources, One Stop, Academic Advising and Communications. The Coordinator will support students in distress through providing guidance on coping strategies and on navigating applicable social services and/or mental health resources. The Coordinator must have the ability to work independently and to partner with various departments around the campus in order to advance the UCBA community’s awareness of mental health and well-being issues and resources.


Essential Functions
  • Provide intensive initial and follow up support for students with economic distress needs - intake, guidance, referral to applicable resources, monitoring and follow up.
  • Provide intake, guidance, and applicable referral for students with mental and emotional health issues.
  • Partner with appropriate offices to enhance community awareness of mental health issues and resources (college, university, and community).
  • Provide educational outreach on mental health awareness and resources though classroom presentations, workshops, and collaboration with applicable partners.
  • Participate in and provide co-leadership for task forces on mental health awareness and resource awareness.
  • Serve on UC CARE team to assist with crisis intervention and follow up for specific student cases.
  • Maintain data and provide reports on student issues and their resolutions, as well as assessment of educational outreach efforts.
  • Participate in meetings pertinent to program planning, modification, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.


Required Trainings/Certifications

State of Ohio Licensed Social Worker (LSW).


Required Experience

At least one (1) year of experience in program coordination


Additional Qualifications Considered
  • One (1) year of clinical experience.
  • Experience working with college students.
  • Well versed in college student mental health and economic distress trends.
  • Extensive knowledge of social and mental health services in the Cincinnati metro area.
  • Experience working in a social services agency.
  • Demonstrated experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse students or populations.
  • Experience working with regional or community college students.
  • Knowledge of educational barriers facing underrepresented students.
  • Ability to create partnerships in university and surrounding local communities.
  • Demonstrated program/event planning and management experience.
  • A collaborative and team building approach.
  • Innovative approach to Student Activities coordination and facilitation.
  • Comfortable with the use of technology including Microsoft Office applications and social media.
