Description of Work Unit
Housing & Dining Services (HDS) is a multifaceted auxiliary organization responsible for management of on-campus housing facilities, residential dining, conferences, and the CSU Mountain Campus. Other areas within HDS include the RamCard, communications, sustainability, facilities, human resources, technology services, workplace inclusion, talent management, outreach, and business services. Approximately 450 full-time staff and 1,700 hourly and student staff serve the nearly 8,000 students who live on campus, as well as numerous campus and community guests. We strive to provide our residents and guests with safe living environments, quality dining, and exceptional co-curricular experiences. We accomplish this through sound fiscal and operational management strategies, and an emphasis on the development of programs and services that are designed to enhance personal growth and global engagement. University Housing is responsible for 15 on-campus residence halls and four apartment communities housing nearly 8000 residents ranging from first-year students to families. The mission is to create vibrant and inclusive communities throughout students’ on-campus housing experience, while enhancing learning, personal/social growth, and global engagement. Our goal is to provide University Housing staff inclusive environments that fosters holistic professional development, which supports their work with students, campus partners and guests in a variety of areas in their lives and develops learning communities where residents can thrive and be retained as successful students.

Position Summary
The Coordinator for Residential Curriculum is responsible for fostering an environment conducive to both personal and professional growth for students, and achieving the objectives of a successful University Housing program that connects to the academic mission of CSU. This position oversees the programmatic aspects of a comprehensive learning community program within the residential communities. Primary responsibilities include: development and implementation of Residential Curriculum, assisting in the coordination and implementation of the Residential Learning Communities and themed programs, coordinating and implementing programs aimed at connecting students to the academic mission. The Coordinator will carry out their responsibilities under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Inclusion and Student Engagement.
The selected candidate will be well-organized and able to work well under pressure with multiple and consistently changing deadlines. To be successful in the position, the Coordinator must have excellent interpersonal communication, organization, administrative skills and demonstrated experience with taking initiative. In addition, the Coordinator will need a strong ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with multiple constituents including campus offices, students, staff, faculty members and various other community groups.
In addition, experience working with diverse individuals such as non-traditional aged, religiously diverse, gender, international, people with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender, and persons of color is essential to be effective in the Coordinator position.
Required Job Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education or related field
• 2 years of full time experience in Student Affairs and/or Housing
• Supervision of various levels of staff (i.e. paraprofessional, graduate, etc)
• Experience working with residential curriculum
• Experience working with people from a broad diversity of backgrounds

• Assist in providing leadership, in collaboration with the Assistant Director for Inclusion and Student Engagement, for the University Housing staff in the development of goals and objectives for residential curriculum and student learning
• Contribute to the University Housing vision, mission and values through participation in strategic planning, department goal setting and determining priorities.
• Collaborate with staff in various university offices, including but not limited to Student Diversity Programs and Services, CSU Police Department, CSU Health Network, Collaborative for Student Achievement, TiLT, etc. to help inform on how to best implement and continue to develop residential curriculum initiatives to enhance student learning
• Exhibit a working knowledge and understanding of the concepts of student development, student rights and responsibilities, and University/Housing policies and procedures through both statement and example.
• Demonstrate professional commitment to diversity and social justice by involvement in teaching, research/creative activity, and service to the profession and/or cultural activities.
• Participate in university, divisional and department training and development activities.
• Stay current in higher education, residence education, diversity and social justice, etc. (through readings, trainings, workshops, conferences, etc.).

• Assist in developing and leading the vision for Residential Curriculum; implement the communication, planning, and strategies for the residential curriculum program within University Housing, keeping in mind the needs of under-represented, first generation and pell-eligible students.
• Partner with Student Success Initiatives and implement residential curriculum efforts in the residential communities to increase retention and enhance the student learning.
• Collaborate with Collaborative for Student Achievement and Academic Support Coordinators to bridge the student residential experience with the academic mission of the institution.
• Consult with University Housing staff to identify and coordinate initiatives aimed at connecting students to the academic mission and address student developmental and learning needs.
• Lead the continued creation and implementation of University Housing’s learning outcomes.
• Assist in implementing the First Year and Second year Experience in partnership with Orientation and Transition Programs office.
• Collaborate with appropriate staff to infuse a curricular approach to student learning in all aspects of University Housing
• Implement residential curriculum within university housing, including such programs as Taking Stock, UTurn and ULearn.
• Coordinate and implement residence educational efforts such as academic and student learning workshops, resources, and tutoring.
• Supervise 2 student graphic artists who design and create publicity and bulletin boards in University Housing.
• Responsible for coordinating the Faculty and Staff Pet Night programs.
• Collaborate with the Coordinator for Residential Success to assist with planning Residential Learning Community (RLC) retreats for communities planning to attend CSU Mountain Campus and other local retreat locations.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Director for Assessment to assess student learning and report results to University Housing; make necessary adjustments based on assessment results
• Monitor and track residential curriculum efforts and faculty involvement and report to University Housing and Housing & Dining Services.
• Serves as a liaison to faculty and staff seeking to build a connection to the residential students through residential curriculum.
• Complete reports and presentations to University Housing, Housing & Dining Services and CSU campus regarding University Housing Residential Curriculum

• Assists with the University Learning Communities to align RLCs with campus vision initiatives for Learning Communities at CSU, and Residential Curriculum
• Coordinate with full-time, graduate and paraprofessional staff on enhancing each RLC and/or work collaboratively with residential communities’ management teams and academic partners to ensure success.
• Assists with implementation, assessment, marketing and recruiting strategies of all RLCs within University Housing including programmatic components, evaluation and staffing.

• Assist with the budget planning, preparation, and management of the budget for the Residential Curriculum area within University Housing.
