Description of Work Unit

The Office of Financial Aid operates under the Division of Enrollment and Access and provides student-centered assistance by working under Federal, State, and University guidance to enable students to enroll, manage their finances, achieve their academic goals, and graduate promptly.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Scholarships, the Coordinator for Foundation Scholarships and Competitive Programs serves as a key member of the Scholarship team and plays an integral role within the Operations Unit of the Office of Financial Aid. The Coordinator for Foundation Scholarships and Competitive Programs has program oversight of all external prominent scholarships and for scholarships where funding comes through the CSU Foundation. This includes several external partners including the Gates Millennium Foundation, the Boettcher Foundation, and Monfort and Anschutz Scholars. The position is responsible for the coordination and processing of all scholarships for students supported by these partners. This position will ensure that donor fund agreement requirements are met and will direct any violation of the agreements to the Assistant Director of Scholarships. This position will be directly responsible for reconciling any of the funds that are external donors, including returning funds to the donor if needed.
These functions are accomplished by performing these duties:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Financial Aid and the CSU Foundation
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Financial Aid and International Admissions
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Financial Aid and donors with scholarships requiring high achievement
  • Provide outreach support to each of the above partners
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Scholarships to ensure that the processing of the scholarships directly meets the requirements of donor fund agreements
  • Monitor, evaluate and process any federal aid adjustments for these students
  • Be a point of support for any Blackbaud Award Management needs including setting up yearly applications, mapping qualifications for these funds, and renewing funds each year. Also, be constantly looking to improve all processes to better serve the student population
  • Provide data as requested to ensure accurate awarding of funds
  • This position also has the responsibility of scholarship selection of funds monitored through the Office of Financial Aid using the Blackbaud Award Management
  • Work closely with scholarship coordinators across all CSU colleges and departments to ensure accurate awarding of CSU Foundation funds.
  • Assist the Scholarships department with :
    • Daily external scholarship checks – will assist with processing, including reconciling daily paper checks received from external scholarship donors.
    • Foundation scholarship awards – will assist with processing
    • CSUSA awarding – will be responsible for awarding funds managed by the Office of Financial Aid and ensuring budgetary needs are not exceeded.
    • Blackbaud Award Management – will maintain the highest level of knowledge by training and keeping up with any software upgrades. This position is to be a “superuser” of the software so they can offer full support to campus partners. The Coordinator for Foundation Scholarships and Competitive Programs works to ensure that all processing activities are managed efficiently, effectively, compliantly, and in adherence to the mission and culture of the University. The Coordinator is expected to serve as a subject matter expert in each scholarship that is managed including student eligibility, application, and renewal process as determined by donor funding agreements or the Office of Financial Aid.

This position is a full-time appointment, based on the CSU Fort Collins campus, with the potential for flexible work arrangements including hybrid office/remote work.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Two years of full-time professional experience (including student employee experience) working in a Title IV Financial Aid Office and a demonstrated knowledge of scholarship funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service to students, families, and both on- and off-campus constituents.
  • A personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources, and/or accountability for diversity outcomes.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Experience with Ellucian’s Banner financial aid system.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Award Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present on scholarships and financial aid for Scholarship Communities, Foundations, and various Colorado State University Partners.

- Monitor, evaluate and process any federal aid adjustments for these students
- Be the primary point of support for any Blackbaud Award Management needs including setting up yearly applications, mapping qualifications for these funds, and renewing funds each year.
- Complete and analyze data for these scholarship funds to determine how best to support students each year.
- Be continuously looking to improve all processes to better serve the student population based on analyzing data and process mapping.
- Work closely with scholarship coordinators across all CSU colleges and departments to ensure accurate awarding of CSU Foundation funds.

Duty/Responsibility
- Assist with processing scholarships and adjusting aid for students receiving additional scholarships within the Scholarships team. Supports work as needed throughout the Operations Unit with other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Scholarships, Associate Director for Special Programs, the Senior Associate Director for Operations, or the Director of Financial Aid.
- Represent OFA and the University to outside agencies. Attend professional conferences and actively engage in professional associations to remain current on changes to regulations, guidelines, and processes.
