Job Overview

The Coordinator for Career Development and Student Experience manages our career office operations, programs, and relationships with employer partners, alumni, and prospective students.

They are charged with implementing the values of social equity, relationship-building, and student support towards student career readiness, and therefore execute the GPTD program portfolio to support the career development needs of current students and alumni from 30 different biomedical graduate certificate and degree-granting programs, as well as multiple tracks within these programs, totaling 600+ biomedical graduate students.

The Coordinator builds key partnerships with employers and BGE alumni to foster interactions between our current students and professionals in order to expand employment placement pipelines for graduates, and pursue fundraising opportunities in collaboration with the Office of Advancement.

They also perform industry analysis to analyze hiring trends and oversee career office advising infrastructure and content to ensure that our career advising reflects the most current professional development trends to maximize student placement.

Further, they oversee logistical execution and evaluation of all GPTD events and programs, and manage on campus engagement of employers with our students (on campus interviews, career fairs and information sessions) - as well as the development, editing, and organization of online resource content including our resource library, jobs board, and career blog. In addition, they manage student engagement and spotlight activities, and serves as administrative liaison to GUMC graduate student groups by overseeing and orchestrating the backend administration workflows of student led activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate career development, recruitment, and fundraising programs and activities to engage prospective and current students, and alumni; working in collaboration with BGE leadership, BGE graduate programs and alumni, Georgetown University campus partners, and external employer partners
  • Develop, maintain, and update a repository of online career development resources and curriculum for biomedical graduate students, leveraging insights gathered from industry analysis and trends in postgraduate career placement
  • Develop and disseminate content to highlight and promote BGE student success and career outcomes, leveraging data from the BGE career outcomes database and stories curated through student spotlight narratives
  • Liaise with and provide administrative support for the Georgetown University Medical Center Graduate Student Organization
  • Manage the One Step Ahead Mentoring program, a collaboration between BGE and the Georgetown University School of Medicine that connects current BGE master’s students with medical students for near peer mentorship

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting directly to the BGE Director for Graduate and Postdoctoral Training and Development, the Coordinator for Career Development and Student Experience supports recruitment and outreach initiatives in collaboration with the Director, implements the values of social equity, relationship-building, and student support towards student career readiness, and supervises student workers.

As well, they work closely with BGE central staff and the individual graduate program coordinators and directors; and works closely with the Office of Advancement, Cawley Career Education Center, the Graduate Career Center (GSAS), Georgetown’s Alumni Association and Alumni Career Services, the Medical Center Graduate Student Organization, and the Office of Global Services.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Requirements and Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years relevant experience
  • Comfortable with various technologies connected to project management and digital communications (social media, email campaigns)
