Job Summary

The Fellows and Study Groups Program at the Harvard Institute of Politics (IOP) works with six Resident Fellows and several Visiting Fellows each semester, all experienced political professionals from across the political spectrum and with a variety of political roles (from strategists to elected officials to media personalities). The Fellows Program represents a unique opportunity for political practitioners with diverse experiences and viewpoints to spend a semester at Harvard, interacting with students, participating in the intellectual life of the community, and pursuing individual studies or projects. Fellows engage in a variety of activities at the Institute of Politics and beyond during their term of residence; they are encouraged to audit classes and attend lectures and cultural events. Although each Fellow’s experience is different based on their individual interests, each Fellow is responsible for leading a not-for-credit Study Group each week, participating in select Institute of Politics activities, and making themselves available for informal exchanges with students.

The Fellows and Study Groups Program is a foundational pillar of the Institute of Politics, and requires a manager who has demonstrated experience in politics, public service, or government, and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Works in conjunction with Fellows and student leaders to identify content, topics, and curriculum for weekly study groups (approx. 6-7 sessions per Fellow per semester). Works closely with the IOP Finance Director to monitor and track annual expenditures, coordinate guest travel, and coordinate other relevant study group costs. Assists in connecting Fellows and Study Groups alumni with future IOP activities.
