Job Summary
The Youth Teaching Youth Program Coordinator at the Natural History Museum of Utah is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of activities, meetings, training sessions, field trips, outreach teaching, and public engagement with low income and ethnically diverse middle and high school participants in the Museum’s Youth Teaching Youth program. 
Maintains contact with participants, parents, teachers, and community partners to ensure program quality and sustain program interest. Works as part of the Museum’s Education and Community Engagement Department team to create engaging experiences for varied audiences to facilitate dynamic and meaningful encounters with natural history.

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with program manager in planning and implementing meetings, educational field trips, training sessions, teaching schedule, college visits, museum events and other activities.
• Support and facilitate training sessions for high school and middle school program participants focusing on various scientific subjects and teaching methods.
• Ensure quality and consistency of communication with program participants, parents, teachers and community partners.
• Supervise, support and evaluate students as they teach and participate in program activities to ensure program goals and expectations are met.
• Transport students to and from teaching assignments and educational activities.
• Track relevant program data in alignment with program and reporting needs as determined by program manager.
• Support and participate in periodic overnight field trips for program participants.
• Maintain efficient systems for stocking and maintaining program equipment and materials.
• Develop and maintain professional peer contacts with partner organizations and internal staff in order to stay current on educational and scientific information and to pursue collaborative opportunities.
• Deliver extraordinary customer service to all Museum audiences and internal staff.
• Programming with participants will be in-person. Administrative responsibilities may be completed remotely according to a University telework agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education), and two years related experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Preferences
Bachelors degree in Education, Science or related discipline
• Experience in developing and teaching formal and/or informal educational programs
• Broad knowledge of natural history topics
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Communication proficiency in a second language
