Job Description

Key development and event support role in assisting with planning, coordination, and execution efforts for fundraising and community-building programs, including but not limited to donor stewardship and prospects events, community events, support council board management, alumni engagement, annual fund marketing campaigns and communications, and scholarship-related donor activities. This position is a donor-facing role and a vital team member, with a concentration in special events management, communications, and fundraising. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Development in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
We seek a highly resourceful and professional coordinator with strong interpersonal skills to work closely with the Development, Events, and Marketing Communications teams. This position requires strategies for both the department's larger efforts and performing highly detailed and creative work daily.

Essential Duties

Development Events and Communications Support

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of fundraising and community-building events and programs, working closely with the Development and Events team
  • Manage event communications and scheduling, event collateral creation, event venue selection, RSVPs, attendee/donor/sponsor lists, and interacting with attendees, donors, and sponsors
  • Work closely with the Marketing Communications team on creating ASU-branded fundraising collateral, including but not limited to event and fundraising flyers and other collateral, email marketing, digital marketing, advertisements, and more
  • Play a key role in managing a wide range of 40th- anniversary campaign-related events
  • Work within budgets for all events and account for anticipated fundraising outcomes and success 
  • Work directly with Development and Events team to manage workflow and oversee day-to-day milestones for events for both Development and College/Community Events.
Alumni Relations (events and communications)
  • Manage and execute alumni relations and engagement through a robust email marketing program, social media, special events, campus events and activities, and faculty relations
  • Develop a brand-new Alumni Chapter and build a chapter board with the development team
  • Maintenance of LinkedIn alumni chapter page and postings
  • Develop and manage alumni events (in-person and Zoom)
  • Cultivate relationships with scholarship recipient students for donor engagement events and activities
Development and Administrative Support
  • Assist in annual fund campaign executions and growing annual fund donor pool through campaign marketing and ongoing email marketing programs to engage, solicit, and steward annual fund donors 
  • Assist in the annual Sun Devil Giving Day campaign execution
  • Assist in managing the support council board on scheduling and executing meetings and events, communications, membership, and stewardship 
  • Manage development administration tasks, including weekly donor acknowledgment letters and donor list management (annual fund, scholarship, and past/lapsed donors)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Evidence of professional communication skills essential for interacting with donors, sponsors, community partners, faculty, staff, and leadership
  • Experience working in event management, digital marketing, fundraising, communications, and nonprofit organizations (2 years)
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal and networking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently
  • Evidence in using judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly and professionally in response to requests
  • Experience working with diverse teams and promoting consistent brand messaging
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing strategies and graphic design
  • Evidence in having a professional presentation and demeanor

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work 
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
  • May be required to work nights and weekends to support events and programming
