Position Highlights | The Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry (CCI) at the University of Arizona is seeking applicants for a full-time Communications and Events Coordinator (Communications Consultant I). We are looking for a committed individual who will take lead on projects as requested and see them through to timely conclusion. They will be a self-starter who takes initiative to master new skills and content areas in order to continually improve in the center. We are looking for someone who can contribute to a team environment, who enjoys working with diverse people, who is willing to learn new tools and techniques and who is able to maintain professionalism while under pressure. The Communications and Events Coordinator reports to the Director of the Confluencenter and works closely with the team to carry out the center’s mission of promoting innovative, interdisciplinary research and community engagement. The center also strives to advance diversity through supporting students, staff, faculty, and scholars who bring underrepresented perspectives to scholarship, both in the themes they explore in their work and in their own identities. The responsibilities of the Communications and Events Coordinator are to manage, plan, develop, execute, research, write, edit and/or publish materials for and strategize a communication campaign for news releases, promotional materials and communication plans for the Confluencenter’s events and programs. To successfully fulfill the job duties and responsibilities, the person who fills this position must be able to communicate, interact and network with individuals from diverse internal and external audiences: faculty, staff, and students; deans, directors and development officers; and other UA Partners who support the Confluencenter.
They should be familiar with the university, have knowledge of and/or expertise in the arts, social sciences, and humanities, and have an understanding of interdisciplinary and collaborative scholarship in order to build awareness and support for the Confluencenter. The position requires excellent planning and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; outstanding writing, editing, and grammar skills; and the ability to work as a team player and meet tight deadlines. Duties & Responsibilities | Duties & responsibilities: · Communication & Strategy: o Writes, edits and produces communications content for the Confluencenter’s internal/ external audiences, using a writing style that is engaging and tailored for the intended audiences. o Develop a communication plan for marketing, advertising and promoting events, updates and announcements on multiple platforms (web, video, print and social media). o Work with the Confluencenter team to create promotional and communication content materials for the website, newsletter, reports, podcasts, video and social media. Ensures that all promotional materials are aligned with the Confluencenter’s brand identity. This also requires managing master lists of information in MailChimp/Trellis, Smartsheets, and Excel. · Event Planning and Execution: o Plan, implement, manage, and support Confluencenter’s events and programs for Show & Tell, visiting scholars, special events, and special projects. Will help to develop new activities. This includes booking venues and equipment, planning technical needs, posting on public calendars, distributing publicity materials, measuring attendance and program success. Event planning will require to work closely with team members and collaborate with internal stakeholders, faculty, and external partners. o Work closely with the Confluencenter team to facilitate growth and expansion of the Center’s programs and activities. o Please note that the Confluencenter supports some activities that occur during the evening and occasionally on weekends. We will ask you to assist at some of these events if you are available, and we will adjust your regular work hours accordingly. · Media Relations: o Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage for university events and announcements. o Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits, and other materials to generate positive media exposure. · Brand Management: o Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication materials and events. o Collaborate with the marketing team to reinforce and enhance the university's brand identity. o Work with representatives from University Relations, RII Research Communications, and other campus offices. o Participate in professional development activities for communications, marketing and social media. · Digital Presence: o Execute a results-driven social media strategy to enhance and expand the Confluencenter’s identity. o Develop and manage a social media strategy.
o Manage and oversee the Confluencenter’s social media accounts and social media calendar. o Create and edit written, video and photo content. This will require to work with team members. o Work closely with the Communications & Multimedia student worker to develop and create engaging text, image and video content for social media platforms. o Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries and comments. o Monitor online conversations and respond to inquiries, comments, and feedback in a timely and professional manner. o Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness. · Additional duties may be assigned.
