Position Summary

The University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) Office of Research Administration is looking for a coordinator for research administration to work closely with colleagues in a fast-paced environment. This position will offer ample opportunity to learn about the world of research administration in support of faculty who conduct research in the multiple colleges that comprise the University of Arizona Health Sciences. The position will work closely with faculty, research nurses, study teams, and our medical partners, Banner Health, and Dignity Health, to provide timely and expert support in the administrative start-up and maintenance of clinical research projects.

Research Administration, within the University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS), provides concierge-level service to all UAHS investigators in support of research pre- and post-award activities, including sponsored project application submission, contract negotiation, clinical trials, and compliance support.

In providing a centralized consortium of research administration professionals, the Office is a one-stop shop for interactions with sponsors and central campus administrative units including the Sponsored Projects Services and the IRB. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare the payor coverage analysis and budget template documents in accordance with study protocol, applicable regulations, and UAHS procedures.
  • Negotiate clinical research budgets in accordance with institutional guidelines.
  • Liaise with UAHS study teams and medical partners to facilitate the approval of research projects.
  • Coordinate and collect all essential documents required for study start up activities.
  • Provide other appropriate assistance to ensure quality and timely completion/submission of research projects.
  • Facilitate submissions of clinical trial agreement and budget amendments, collecting essential documents as required and updating the payor coverage analysis.
  • Maintain final documents and distribute to internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Prepare online routing in the UAccess Research System.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in a professional environment, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and significant attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and a strong ability to multi-task multiple projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with investigators, sponsors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated customer service.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting clinical research including study coordination, budget development, payor coverage analysis, and/or contract review.
  • Skill in preparing research budgets and/or payor coverage analyses.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of a clinical trial management system (e.g. Huron Click, OnCore).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of university and sponsor agency policies and procedures.
  • Standout colleague who supports the team and is able to resolve issues with a positive outcome.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic team environment with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a manner that is effective and efficient.
  • Experience with UA systems, specifically UAccess Research.
  • Willingness to adjust schedule to work weekend and evening hours when necessary.
