Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Coordinator, Business Operations is responsible for coordinating and managing the essential daily operational and payroll needs for the Graduate School (GS). These duties encompass payroll, procurement, travel, reconciliation of accounts, operational and administrative support for GS events, and coordination of transfers for GS travel programs. Primary responsibilities:
This position is exempt, regular, and eligible for a generous leave package which includes 22 days of Vacation Leave, 15 days of Sick Leave, 15 Holidays, and 3 Personal Days. Minimum Qualifications: | Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: At least 4 years of experience performing a combination of business operations (payroll, accounting, travel, purchasing, and/or human resource functions), preferably in an institution of higher education. Additional Information: | The Graduate School at the University of Maryland, College Park provides strategic and operational leadership for approximately 80 highly ranked doctoral programs and 150 masters and graduate certificate programs, and for the 10,800 graduate students enrolled in them. The Graduate School initiates and advances large projects for graduate education and graduate students; implements policies recommended by the University Graduate Council; manages graduate admissions (~25,000 applications annually) and coordinates graduate enrollment; administers a substantial number of graduate fellowships, travel grants, and other awards and prizes for students and faculty; awards research/scholarship and creative arts grants to the Graduate Faculty; and approves membership to the Graduate Faculty. The Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School, the University’s chief academic officer for graduate education, heads the Graduate School. |

Physical Demands | This position is generally sedentary in nature. Must be able to move about campus to attend meetings; must be able to respond to unit questions in a timely fashion, particularly during peak times. Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; typing and viewing a computer screen; and extensive reading.
