Job Description

Under the leadership of the Dean of Students Office, the Advocacy Coordinator provides direct engagement with students, faculty, staff, families and other community members to develop a supportive action plan for students who are experiencing circumstances that interfere with academic success. The Advocacy Coordinator manages a caseload in collaboration with student services and academic partners in creating a success plan by connecting students with appropriate services and resources.

This position will assist with the front office administrative functions and will report to the Manager of Student Advocacy and Assistance.

Salary Range

$42,000 - $45,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Provide case management of situations involving financial, academic, and basic needs.
  • Participate on committee that reviews and determines financial crisis support for students.
  • Provide support for the triage process for students of concern.
  • Assist with front office administrative support; telephone calls, visitors, and manage inquiries.
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages respect and engagement with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Coordinate action plans with students, families, staff, faculty and other necessary partners to aid with service referrals.
  • Serve as liaison to university and community partners in support of student needs.
  • Problem solve situations; create and implement action plan to support student needs.
  • Communicate difficult and sensitive information with relevant parties in a trauma-informed manner.
  • Support retention efforts.
  • Assist with response to critical incidents and crisis situations.
  • Manage highly sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Represent the Dean of Students Office by serving on university committees and work groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in higher education or related setting with a demonstrated knowledge of crisis response and case management support teams.
  • Experience working with Title IX and VAWA requirements.
  • Experience in crisis management and support of students of concern.
  • Experience assisting others in navigating complex systems.
  • Experience in communicating difficult/sensitive information with relevant parties.
  • Experience organizing, coordinating and prioritizing work and activities.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Evidence of being bilingual preferred

  • Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen and using mouse and keyboard

Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success.
