POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for an impact-oriented, enthusiastic team member to help us change the world. The Associate would have the opportunity to join a growing team in the Data, Policy, and Performance Innovation division. We consult public, private, and social sector entities to develop impact strategy and measurement and evaluation frameworks to help our clients achieve their impact goals. Expected day-to-day activities include; strategic planning, monitoring and evaluating, analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting research, content generation, data support, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
EXPECTATIONS
Potential duties and responsibilities in this position may include:
●       Project design & evaluation
○       Contributing to the development of project scopes of work.
○       Supporting project development, including determining scale and scope of specific social or environmental impact projects, and identifying outcomes and method of outcomes measurement.
○       Conducting research, literature reviews, and data collection.
○       Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis to support project design.
○       Identifying appropriate data sources to measure the achievement of outcomes.
○       Working with social service providers to develop implementation plans, and developing cost-benefit models.
○       Establishing mechanisms for rapid feedback and learning within projects as well as for evolving a longer-term research projects/agenda(s)
○       Providing statistical, research, and evaluation design expertise to internal and external partners
○       Contributing to the design of new strategies; portfolio development; innovative data initiatives with a focus on coherent, integrated theories of change; measurable impact models; scaling; collaborations; and implementation plans to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.
●       Project execution
○       Creating project and client deliverables, with support and oversight.
○       Working with and supporting student interns to participate in client and internal projects.
●       Communication
○       Synthesizing large amounts of information into clear, concise and insightful written analyses, literature reviews, and recommendations
○       Drafting and reviewing RFPs and grant proposals
○       Writing and editing program-related publications and promotional or educational materials.
○       Presenting relevant material to clients, partners, team members, and others as applicable.
●       Project management
○       Managing deliverables for up to three project team members.
○       Creating and revising tools and data collection procedures (e.g. logical framework, project performance tracking, indicators, data flow chart, manuals)
○       Keeping abreast of project developments and progress to recommend tools and strategies to increase performance and results.
●       Client relationship management
○       Creating high-quality interactions and clear and consistent communications with business partners
○       Consulting with partners to maximize impact of projects and ensure optimal learning. This may include site visits, convening meetings of key stakeholders, shaping reports on key findings, and coordinating on dissemination plans
●       Internal project support 
○       Supporting business development activities.
○       Contribute to the strategic direction of the Data, Policy, and Performance Innovation team and the Sorenson Impact Center broadly
●       Engagement with the social impact field
○       Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing external research, identifying relevance and applicability to projects
○       Promoting effective knowledge management activities, including translation of research knowledge to practice environments, and other activities to promote utility of research-generated knowledge in field settings
●       Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Preferences
Preference will be given to candidates with some or all the following:
●       Experience in strategy, strategic planning, client projects.
●       Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
●       Knowledge of statistics.
●       Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
●       Experience with and ability to design and conduct research, gather data, design and present quantitative and qualitative analyses. 
●       Master’s Degree in business, social science, education, public health, or a related field.
●       Experience working with state and local government agencies, social service providers and/or environmental organizations.
●       Ability to collaborate and function effectively on a highly motivated, innovative, and entrepreneurial team.
●       Demonstrated effective communication (written, verbal, other) skills.
●       Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
●       Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
●       Potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
