Job Summary
  • Eastern Washington University is currently seeking an Cook 3 - Float Schedule. This position will be responsible for daily food production with an emphasis on catering and special event food production. Responsibilities will also include menu development and special diet meals including plant based options. The position will also maintain quality and safety standards in Dining Services operations.
  • Typical Cook 3 Duties:
    • Daily production as needed
    • Schedules and assigns work; creates prep lists; establishes and maintains timelines
    • Prepares menus and recipes; determines production amounts; requisitions products; maintains records; creates reports
    • Trains and instructs others in cooking and food service work
    • Establish and maintain working relationships; maintain a positive kitchen culture
    • Plans meals, events, special diets

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Food Handlers Permit
  • Washington State Drivers License
  • Three years of food service work, including one year of lead experience, or equivalent education or experience.
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of college/university food service experience
  • 2 years of high volume food production serving over 400 meals per day
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Culinary degree or related degree in the food service field
  • ACF Certification

Work Schedule
  • Floating schedule will consist of 40 hours per week with two consecutive days off in a seven day period. Employees may be assigned to work weeks and work shifts which include week ends and late night closing shifts, or shifts of different lengths in order to meet business and customer service needs or in response to employee requests.
