Qualifications:

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.

Experience:

Required: Three (3) years of professional business, financial and/or managerial work experience in public administration or contract administration.

Preferred: Professional experience in University or other public sector planning, capital project management, and budgeting.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret professional and technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated writing skills to prepare reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and other documents that provide complex, detailed information in a format that is clear and user friendly.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in developing, implementing and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with university contacts.
  • Organizational skills necessary for balancing demands of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working in a complex environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of University of Illinois software applications.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.
  • Ability to analyze administrative problems and exercise authority over an effective course of action.
  • Ability to develop, install and evaluate new and revised methods, procedures and performance standards.
  • Familiarity with public higher education in Illinois.

    This is a full-time Civil Service Business Administrative Associate position appointed on a 12 month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after July 6, 2022. Salary is commensurate with experience.
