In the role of Contract Negotiator, you'll be responsible for: negotiating contracts; writing, reviewing, and negotiating agreements; and providing negotiations documentation and support to Principal Investigators. You may bring your experience in contract administration and/or research administration and your passion for higher education which will assist you in working collaboratively with faculty and staff to coordinate processes and ensure compliance in contract negotiations. Your ability to exercise independent judgement and communicate clearly in a dynamic and high-volume environment are important assets for you to excel in this position. 

The Department

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) was established in 2011, to provide research administration services to The Texas A&M University System in Brazos County, Galveston and Qatar. Housed within the Division of Research at Texas A&M, SRS teams work with stakeholders across the globe to provide efficient and superior expertise and assistance with proposal submissions, negotiation of external contracts, and project administration throughout the life of the award. Job Description

We currently have multiple opportunities for contract negotiators at various experience and skill levels. The positions are integral to the success at SRS and for sponsored research support at Texas A&M University. The Contract Negotiator team member will be trained and learn tasks associated with negotiating contracts, writing, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements, and providing documentation and support to Principal Investigators.  If you are already experienced in contract negotiations with broader experience, your responsibilities will be expanded to include mentoring, assisting with policy and procedural development, and assisting with strategic planning.

Location Details: Due to the nature of this position, a hybrid work arrangement may be available for workplace flexibility.

Qualifications

Varying levels of positions are available depending on qualifications:

  • An entry-level position includes a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • An advanced level position includes a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience as well as up to four years of related experience in contract negotiations or research administration.

  • A well-qualified candidate would have a Juris Doctorate (JD) and some contract negotiation experience.
