The University of Arizona's Office of Research Contracts (ORC) invites applications for the position of Contracts Analyst II (Grant & Contract Admin II). The Contracts Analyst is responsible for the processing and negotiation of agreements related to funding from Federal, State and local governments, Industry, non-profits and academia and other research related agreements such as non-disclosure agreements and data use agreements. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, the ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituency and the ability to work within tight and conflicting deadlines.

ORC is responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and approving over 3,000 grant, contract, and other agreements annually on behalf of the University of Arizona. The Contracts Analyst is responsible for the processing and negotiation of agreements related to funding from Federal, State and local governments, Industry, non-profits and academia and other research related agreements such as non-disclosure agreements and data use agreements. The Office of Research Contracts (ORC) and Sponsored Projects Services (SPS) units within Research Innovation & Impact (RII) assist the University of Arizona research community in its efforts to secure external funding by providing high quality administrative and financial services to assist faculty and staff with proposals, provide guidance on the management of grants and contracts, and offer training on research administration topics.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & responsibilities:

·         Reviews, negotiates, and processes contracts and agreements.

·         Serves as the liaison with the sponsor, the Sponsored Projects Services Office, the Office of General Counsel, the Export Control Programs office and other compliance/administrative offices within the University.

·         Works to enhance coordination and communication with internal stakeholders and sponsors for effective contract review and negotiations.

·         Establishes and maintains a system to communicate the status of agreements and amendments to university stakeholders.

·         Maintain knowledge of current developments in policy, laws, regulations and best practices regulating university agreements.

·         Additional duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, management, engineering, science or related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience working with agreements in business, government, and/or academic environments or as a paralegal/legal assistant in a law office setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience negotiating issues in federal, academic, or business contracting in an academic/research/technical environment.
  • Advanced degree such as a Master of Science in Science/Engineering or J.D and 2 or more years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in a university sponsored projects office, department or college or industry contracts office or as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm.
