Content Strategist - College of Arts and Sciences Regular, Full-Time, MR10, Exempt Position Summary The UT College of Arts and Sciences communications team is looking for a Content Strategist to develop a content creation and distribution strategy that ensures all content aligns with our brand identity and supports our strategic communication goals. The candidate should be an experienced writer, editor, and strategic thinker who thoroughly understands online and print marketing channels. Collaborating with a professional communications team, this person will develop, recommend, and implement plans for generating purposeful and effective content across multiple channels and platforms to engage prospective students and their families, alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and current students, as well as other college stakeholders. This role involves understanding our target audiences, creating an effective content roadmap, coordinating with the creative team, and analyzing user engagement to adjust strategies as necessary.

Roles and Responsibilities · Work with communications director to strategize content pillars and a content strategy for the college that aligns with the strategic initiatives of the college and university · Develop content value propositions for the college · Develop a content strategy for the college and collaborate with the project manager, creative team, and writers to produce content and implement the strategy · Create, plan, and manage the college editorial calendar to ensure timely publication of news, project deadlines, and content launch dates · Work with the project manager to establish content workflow and management to prioritize, plan, and deliver content for multiple channels and audiences · Proofread and edit all content before publication · Approve scheduled social media posts · Optimize content to align with brand messaging and SEO best practices · Use analytics to monitor content performance and evaluate effectiveness of content strategies · Oversee development and launch of new content channels · Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and editorial style across all content – from websites and social media platforms to department newsletters and college news features · Conduct periodic content audits and perform content gap analyses to determine what type of content is missing and what is needed · Identify and propose new content for college and department platforms · Research and stay updated on the latest developments in search engine optimization, content trends, and audience behavior Required Skills · Excellent writing and editing skills · Ability to determine how content should be presented for maximum impact and delivered for maximum audience engagement · Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), keyword research, information architecture, and usability best practices · Attention to detail and good analytical abilities to spot patterns and trends in content marketing data · Solid knowledge of branding guidelines and AP and/or Chicago Manual of Style guides and rules · Ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects on a rolling delivery schedule · Ability to present concepts to campus partners or team members in a clear, confident manner · Ability to produce and manage creative work within a system of established templates and content delivery systems · Ability to work well independently and as a member of a collaborative team; act professionally; provide and be receptive to feedback and constructive criticism; be a self-motivated learner; teach, mentor, and share knowledge with others; and build and maintain good customer satisfaction for the College of Arts and Sciences Office of Communications Preferred Skills · Knowledge of content management systems, such as WordPress, and project management systems · Skilled in photography and video · Experience in higher education content development Required Experience Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising, English, or related field in communications or the humanities and at least 2 years of professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified OR A high school diploma and at least 10 years of professional experience as a content strategist, content manager, or content developer Preferred Experience Master's degree in strategic marketing and/or communications, journalism, or public relations and at least 5 years of professional experience directly related to content strategist Please upload a cover letter and resume with your application.
