Title: Cloud Governance Lead

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Cloud Governance Lead to manage and improve our
organization's cloud governance framework. This vital role involves ensuring that our cloud
environments, especially in Microsoft Azure, are run efficiently, securely, and in accordance
with our business goals and regulatory obligations. As a Cloud Governance Lead, you will play a
key role in shaping our cloud strategy, implementing best practices, and maintaining a balance
between flexibility and control in cloud operations.

Primary Role
The primary role of the Cloud Governance Lead is to manage and improve the organization's
cloud governance framework. This involves ensuring that the organization's cloud
environments, particularly in Microsoft Azure, are run efficiently, securely, and in accordance
with the organization's business goals and regulatory obligations. The Cloud Governance Lead
will play a key role in shaping the organization's cloud strategy, implementing best practices,
and maintaining a balance between flexibility and control in cloud operations. They will be
responsible for developing and enforcing cloud governance policies and standards, managing
cloud spending, assessing and reducing risks, and collaborating with various stakeholders to
incorporate cloud governance practices into the wider organizational framework.

Essential tasks/responsibilities
Cloud Governance Framework Development:
The Cloud Governance Lead will manage,
communicate, and revise a comprehensive cloud governance framework that aligns with the
organization's objectives and cloud strategy, particularly for Azure. This includes developing
and implementing policies, procedures, and standards to ensure that cloud operations are
efficient, secure, and compliant with regulatory requirements. The Cloud Governance Lead will
work closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand their needs and ensure
that the cloud governance framework is flexible and adaptable to changing business
requirements. They will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness
of the cloud governance framework, and for making continuous improvements to ensure that
it remains relevant and effective.

Policy and Compliance Management: Create and enforce cloud governance policies and
standards to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements, including
data security and privacy laws.

Risk Management and Security Oversight: Assess and reduce risks related to cloud
adoption and operations, ensuring strong security measures are implemented and follow
industry best practices.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with IT, security, legal, finance, and business units to
incorporate cloud governance practices into the wider organizational framework.

Training and Awareness: Teach and train stakeholders on cloud governance principles,
policies, and best practices, promoting a culture of accountability and compliance.

Education
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field.

Licensure / Certification
None required. Preferred certification in development technologies, as appropriate for the
position.

Experience Preferred
The preferred candidate will have up to five years of directly related IT experience and 5-8 years
experience in cloud computing, with a strong emphasis on governance, risk management,
collaboration, and compliance in Azure environments.

Technical Skills:The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of Azure cloud
services, including an understanding of cloud architectures, cloud networking and security,
subscription management, and cloud governance tools. They should have a solid
understanding of IT security and risk management principles, and be able to apply them to
cloud environments. Additionally, they should be familiar with cloud automation and
orchestration tools, and be able to use them to implement and enforce cloud governance
policies.

Analytical Skills: Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to devise
strategies for effective reporting and management of cloud governance.

Communication Skills: The ideal candidate should have strong communication and
leadership skills, able to effectively engage with various stakeholders and drive governance
initiatives across the organization. They should be able to clearly and concisely communicate
complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and be able to
facilitate productive discussions and negotiations between different teams and departments.
In addition to verbal communication, the candidate should also have excellent written
communication skills, with the ability to create clear and comprehensive documentation for
cloud governance policies, procedures, and standards. They should be able to develop and
maintain documentation that is accessible and understandable to all stakeholders, and be able
to use it to promote awareness and understanding of cloud governance principles and
practices.

The following Certifications / Experience Are Strongly Preferred
• ITIL V3/V4 Foundation Certification preferred
