Position Title Construction Management Program Director
Position Summary
California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for the Construction Management Program Director position (tenure-track faculty) to begin Fall 2024 in the Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering’s Civil Engineering and Construction Management (CECM) department.
Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $110,000 – $120,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or a Master’s degree with significant industry experience. Candidates must embrace the mission of the University through evidence of a clear understanding and commitment to teach through the integration of Christian faith and learning.
Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leadership and teaching several undergraduate construction courses including, but not limited to: construction estimating, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), construction materials and methods, construction project delivery methods, construction safety, construction law, construction planning and scheduling, and mechanical systems for buildings. In addition to teaching, the individual selected will be expected to support the broad teaching mission of the department. The candidate will also cooperate with colleagues in program development, curriculum initiatives, conducting learning outcome assessments, writing annual summary reports and the self-study report to maintain accreditation. Other responsibilities include supervising CM club (AGC Student Chapter) activities, engaging with the construction industry for student career opportunities, and providing career counseling and academic advising to CM students. The selected candidate must also demonstrate effective communication skills and be proficient in computer software applications. Professional certifications, such as LEED AP and OSHA, are preferred.
The CECM department offers undergraduate degrees in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited) and Construction Management (ACCE accredited).
