JOB DETAILS:
The Operations and Management Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, Wisconsin, USA, seeks individuals with expertise in Construction Management, a passion for teaching, and leadership skills to fill an opening for a Lecturer starting August 2024.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
- Have one of the following by employment start date:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience in the Construction industry
- Demonstrated work experience and/or certifications in at least one of the following:
- Construction Management
- Architecture
- Site Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Demonstrated teaching/training experience.
- Demonstrated interest in advancing student learning in the area of construction management.
Highly Desired/Preferred
- Master's degree or higher in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Record of successful teaching and/or training at the post-secondary, college and/or professional level and across in-person and online modalities.
- Commitment to cultivating a work environment and student experience that embraces inclusion.
The university emphasizes teaching excellence; candidates brought to campus will be required to teach a component of a class as part of the interview process and discuss how instruction partners with and is supported by an online learning management system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online, undergraduate courses according to departmental instructional plans. The current primary instructional needs for the Operations and Management position call for teaching coursework in Construction Management related to Site Engineering, Architecture, Estimating, Scheduling, Heavy Construction, or Light Construction.
In addition to teaching, all UW-Stout instructors are expected to conduct assessments of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
The Operations and Management (O&M) Department is housed in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Management. O&M primarily serves undergraduate majors in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Technology, Management, and Packaging, as well as graduate majors in Training and Human Resources Development, Engineering, Risk Control, and Operations and Supply Management. The department currently has 40 faculty/staff and offers more than 50 courses and 100 different sections each semester.
