Construction Coordinator/ Estimator
Design & Construction
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Construction Coordinator works with the project manager and design teams to prepare construction estimates for building projects. Contacts outside vendors for subcontract work. Assists the project manager with administrative duties and special projects including financial closeouts, project reconciliation, and establishing project budgets. Maintains and updates estimate excel document. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• General knowledge of all construction and maintenance trades Ability to effectively plan, organize, and coordinate new project development.
• General knowledge of all city, state and federal regulations/permits involved in construction, renovation and operations; including but not limited to NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, International Building Code, Americans with Disabilities Act, Clean Air Act, OSHA regulations, EPA laws and regulations, ANSI Standards, and infectious waste regulations.
• Knowledge of all phases of the maintenance/construction process.
• Good communication skills, both verbally, written and computer literate.
• Good mathematics skills and capable of compiling estimates for multiple trades.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel programs, as used in estimating.
• Prolific note taking skills and organization skills. 
• Ability to handle multiple projects at once. 
• Detail oriented. 
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and other related documents for estimating.

• Planning and Organization – analyzes work to identify top priorities, goals and plans of action. Utilizes time effectively, creates and uses schedules and meets deadlines.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in planning, management, business, engineering or related area and two years’ experience in construction, construction estimating, supervision and/or project management.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
