Conservation Intern: Museum

The Church History Department is pleased to welcome a 20-40 hour per week, 3-6 month, paid, conservation internship, based at the Church History Museum. Starting dates are flexible between May & September 2024.

Required:

Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.

Preferred:

  • An interest in and understanding of Church history, culture, doctrine, and policies.
  • Preferred candidates will be studying a conversation related field (visual arts, chemistry, art history, anthropology, history or a related field).
  • Interested in pursuing a career in conservation.
  • Excellent hand skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently but also collaboratively with staff members.

The Church History Department is responsible to preserve, collect, and share a record of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints and its people. The conservation intern will support this mission by working with conservators one-on-one to treat, support and preserve museum materials. The intern will have regular check-ins with conservation staff to receive work assignments and review execution of responsibilities. A significant portion of the internship will be spent on treatment and mounting of textiles for exhibition.
