The Regulatory Compliance office has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Conflict of Interest (COI) Coordinator position.

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support of research activities.  Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal and training.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Job Summary:

This position serves as the Conflict of Interest (COI) Coordinator within the Conflict of Interest Office.  The COI Coordinator is responsible for assisting the COI Director in the development and implementation of a program to manage all aspects of the conflicts of interest disclosure and reporting requirements for the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus).  The COI Coordinator works with the COI Director and other COI coordinators to ensure that the policies and procedures of the COI Office are followed, as well as appropriate communication and coordination with other CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus offices, including but not limited to the Office of Grants and Contracts, Clinical Research Administration Office (CRAO), Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB), and the CU Innovations Office. The COI Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining records that document the decisions and operations of the COI Program in compliance with federal and state regulations and requirements.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Facilitate the CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Conflicts of Interest Program, in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and disclosures.  Develops, implements, and monitors procedures and practices designed to promote compliance.
  • Prepares information for presentation to the COI Committee and to the COI Official regarding individual disclosures (including gathering information from research related databases and from other departments) and ensures subsequent notifications and tasks regarding the disclosures are completed as directed.
  • Assists the COI Director to prepare summary and ad hoc reports for CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Executive Management; assist with required reporting responsibilities as well as provide regular updates to the COI Committee, COI Official, Associate Vice Chancellor for Regulatory Compliance, Vice Chancellor for Research, and other offices as required.
  • Serves as an internal resource across CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus for questions concerning the interpretation of COI policies and procedures and application to individual circumstances.
  • Provide customer support and technical assistance to individuals who are required to submit a COI disclosure.
  • Implements procedures and practices designed to promote compliance with COI policies and COI management plans.
  • Maintains accurate, timely and complete paper and computer records that are in compliance with federal regulations and requirements.
  • Work with Electronic Research Administration (eRA) team on technical aspects of the eRA COI module, including any system upgrades.
  • Actively participate in annual COI disclosure preparation.

Salary and Benefits:

  • The salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $47,697 - $53,560
  • The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
  • The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
  • This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, biological sciences, social sciences, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and
  • At least one (1) year of professional level experience with highly confidential and sensitive personnel issues and information.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of regulatory compliance or administration experience.
  • Experience working with in an academic medical setting and handling conflict of interests
