What You Will Do

SSO-3 is currently seeking a motivated Computing Systems Tec 3 to work as a member of the LANL Field Intelligence Element IT Customer Services Team to install, manage, and troubleshoot MS Windows operating systems, applications, and other services on several classified computer networks and stand-alone systems.  The selected candidate will work alone and with other members of two diverse teams, and will be responsible for providing general end-user computing and network support.  Additionally, the individual selected for this position will be required to work closely with cyber-security staff to help ensure compliance with technical security requirements.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience performing systems administration of MS Windows-based computing systems, including configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting

  • Experience working with standardized computer images and/or performing workstation cloning.

  • Ability to respond quickly to problems and to address rapidly changing priorities.

  • Experience working effectively in a team environment, including addressing interpersonal issues and interacting with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with MS Active Directory.

  • Understanding of, and experience applying user and group permissions to data shares.

  • Experience using call tracking (ticketing) systems such as Footprints or Remedy.

  • Experience migrating user data across systems or networks.

  • Active Q or DoD TS clearance highly desired.

Education: This position requires a high school diploma and 2-4 years of related experience.  Additional education, certifications, and/or education is desired.

Notes to Applicants:

  • Duties may require work at remote locations across multiple facilities at LANL.  Some travel may be required for training and certification purposes.

  • This position requires a Q access authorization.  Applicants must have the ability to obtain a DOE Q and SCI clearance, which typically requires US citizenship.

Additional Details:

Clearance: Q/SCI (Position will be cleared to this level).  Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.


*Eligibility requirements:  To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

The Sensitive & Special Operations (SSO) organization provides a secure and compliant TS/SCI level environment for the execution of National Security programs through the use of classified networks and systems. SSO-3 currently manages several classified networks and has an ongoing commitment to provide desktop, server, and network support and services to the LANL Field Intelligence Element and other Government agency Intelligence Community users.
