UC San Diego is hiring a Computing Services Technician to support the university's IT needs for the next 5 months.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last 5 months

Compensation: Pay range is between $27.57 per hour - $29.50/hour depending on experience. Eligible for Full Medical Benefits, Vacation, Sick, and Holiday pay

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00A - 4:30P

Location: 100% on-site in La Jolla

This position will provide support for computer-related hardware and software for student, staff, and faculty. User will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, install/upgrade operating systems (Windows and Mac OSx), and manage helpdesk tickets assigned to them in a timely manner. Incumbent will be responsible for answering general user questions, provide basic application training, and resolve general computing problems on desktop computers, laptops, printers and AV equipment. Assist with maintenance of hardware inventory thru Lansweeper, and registration of IP addresses on our network. User will also be responsible for imaging computers for staff/labs.

  • Experience with installation and maintenance of Windows and MacOSx, including networking protocols and terminologies

  • Experience installing computers, laptops , printers, scanners, copiers, hand-held devices and other peripherals

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving issues in a timely manner for hardware, software and printer issues

  • Experience using and supporting users on standard office software:Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize requests

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility in dealing with users from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures

  • Functional familiarity with computer hardware components

  • Ability to work independently at remote locations

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy

  • DOJ/FBI background, References, and DMV checks and clearances are required prior to hiring.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,566 - $82,121 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.57 - $39.33

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
