The School of Social Work Technology team has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary , full-time Computer Support Technician 2 to assist computer users in the School with the implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting and use of computer hardware and software packages.

Responsibilities:
• Diagnose related problems by using basic diagnostic software and utility tools and by troubleshooting through a process of elimination in determining where a problem is occurring.
• Instruct users in program operation and use of appropriate documentation; write user documentation of common problems and resolutions to assist users in solving problems.
• Assist computer users in the general use of a variety of software packages such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
• Identify and resolve problems relating to the operation/function of software packages.
• Maintain inventories of computer equipment in a dedicated inventory management and support application.
• Prepare and submit warranty claims, parts and documentation associated with warranty repairs to vendors.
• Assist in the installation, operation, and maintenance of all computing equipment throughout the school, including the installation of new equipment and the resolution of problems related to hardware, software, and compatibility between the two.
• Primary responsibility for keeping computerized inventory database and other records accurate and up to date.
• Responsibility for setting up and maintaining shared network technologies such Teams/SharePoint/Google, etc. for users.
• Assist in training and consultation as well as assisting in the provision of workshops and other training for faculty, staff, and students on a variety of supported software and hardware within the School of Social Work.
• Assist with tasks related to the distribution of computing equipment and the rendering of services related to computing, including order tracking and other administrative tasks related to equipment acquisition.
• Draft source document formats and operation procedures for users; instruct user personnel in system operating procedures and requirements.
• Assist management, technical staff and users in evaluating systems capabilities and maintenance requirements.
• May design and assist in the automation of deployment procedures.
• May assist faculty with teaching aids, materials and software associated with classroom instruction or digital events remotely.
• May assist in the preparation of reports.
• Unbox, inventory, document, image, migrate and ship were needed; PC’s, Mac’s, Tablets, IOS devices, etc. on-site at the School of Social Work and its multiple buildings as an essential worker on and off campus following SSW Tech practices and standards.
• Install and configure computing devices with various software packages such as inventory management, virus protection and backup, etc. Furthermore, cloud service applications such as Google Drive, MS Teams, OneDrive, etc.
• Assist with moving and setting up computing equipment in multiple School of Social Work offices and buildings on and off campus.
• Secure desktop systems to SSW standards, including those used in HIPAA compliant environments as directed.
• Connect computing devices to the existing UW Delegated OU, as directed.
• Maintain Computer Labs including shared printing, networking, install and updates
• May direct the work of graduate student assistants
• Perform related duties as required

Requirements:
This position is that of an essential worker and on site, inclusive of multiple School of Social Work buildings on and off campus.
The ability to travel to sites via public transportation or other means during business hours.
Work hours are required anywhere between 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM, M-F.
Ability to lift and move 50lbs or less per computing device, etc. for an entire shift if needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience as a Computer Support Technician I –OR- equivalent education/experience.
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Experience with Microsoft Teams in an education environment
• Experience with Windows System Imaging and JAMF
• Experience with support ticketing systems
• Extensive experience and knowledge configuring and adjusting software configuration files.
• Extensive experience in hardware installation including PC setup (out of the box), configuring drives, memory, and a wide variety of other hardware.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Windows and Mac OS, Microsoft Office Applications.
• Demonstrated skill in communicating highly technical information to end-users from diverse backgrounds in a socially sensitive, friendly, and understandable manner.
• Demonstrated skill in performing a job in an independent manner, using professional customer service communication skills and working in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment.
• Demonstrated skill in independently seeking out needed information from support people from a variety of information sources (on hardware and software issues), including vendors and from various sites on the internet.

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with Active Directory Delegated OU and NetID IAM
