What You Will Do:

  • Develop novel parallel discrete event simulation techniques, algorithms, and runtimes targeting high performance computing (HPC) platforms.
  • Analyze the performance of simulations, identify key bottlenecks, and understand parallel scaling behavior for various application workloads, including computer hardware simulation, transportation systems, disease modeling, and geophysical systems.
  • Work with application domain and high performance computing experts to optimize parallel execution performance on HPC platforms.
  • Publish and present research results in journals and conferences in the areas of parallel simulation and computational science (domain science and engineering).
  • Participate in requested assignments, including preparation of grant proposals, documentation of results, and reporting results to sponsors.

What is Required:

  • PhD degree, within the last 3 years, in Computer Science, Computational Sciences, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in parallel computing and application performance analysis.
  • Proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or later).
  • Ability to reason about the correctness and performance of asynchronous, parallel programs.
  • Familiarity with performance optimization libraries, tools, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with task-based or discrete event programming models.
  • Familiarity with software engineering tools such as make and git.
