Computational Structural Biology and Computational Crystallography Postdoc

What You Will Do

The Information Sciences group (CCS-3) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking to hire a postdoctoral research associate in the area of Computational Structural Biology and Computational Crystallography. We are interested in quantitative descriptions of protein dynamicsthrough the integration of molecular simulations, high-performance computing, and X-ray diffraction data.

The successful candidate will conduct studies in processing, analysis and modeling of diffuse X-ray scattering data using pre-exascale and exascale computers, and in protein crystal molecular dynamics simulations.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Ability to conduct independent research in the above areas, as demonstrated by prior training and research experience

  • Excellent verbal and written skills as demonstrated by publication and presentation record

  • Strong computer programming skills using C and Python

Desired Qualifications:

  • Scientific programming expertise using Fourier methods, numerical optimization, and linear algebra

  • Parallel programming expertise using MPI, OpenMP, and CUDA

  • Team software engineering expertise using Git and Continuous Integration

  • Expertise in analyzing serial X-ray crystallography data

  • Crystalline protein molecular dynamics simulations

Education: Ph.D. must indicate a strong foundation in Computational Structural Biology and Computational Crystallography, completed within the past five years or to be completed soon prior to employment.
