Provides analysis of large-scale genetic data in a collaborative research setting of studies on various diseases of the aging brain. Investigates the relationship between genetic variation and risk factors related to the disease. Develops and implements analysis plans and presents study findings in collaboration with investigators at several national and international institutions.

Position Summary:

Provides analysis of large-scale genetic data in a collaborative research setting of studies on various diseases. Investigates the relationship between genetic variation and risk factors related to the disease. Develops and implements analysis plans and presents study findings in collaboration with investigators at several national and international institutions.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1.    Analyzes whole genome sequencing; Genome-wide association; admixture mapping.
2.    Interprets results of genetic analyses using bioinformatics tools.
3.    Presents summary reports and assists in the interpretation of the statistical findings.
4.    Implements novel analysis methods as needed by the research program.
5.    Maintains and updates the analytical software and research database.
6.    Assists in the generation of tools for manipulating and preparing data for visualization.
7.    Works closely with other staff members, students and postdoctoral fellows.
8.    Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:

Required:
•    Background in genomics, bioinformatics, or biostatistics
•    Proficiency in statistical and computational programming languages preferably R
•    Experience in command line interface and Linux environment
•    Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred:
•    Previous experience working with large-scale genomics datasets (whole exome sequencing, RNA, TCR sequencing; bulk and/or single cells data).
•    Ability to apply software tools to perform data analysis and interpret the biological significance from results in brain aging research.
•    Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to discover and disseminate knowledge.
•    Experience in working with laboratory scientists to interpret genomic data analysis.
•    Experience working with large scale genomic data and basic genetic knowledge.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in genetics, statistics, bioinformatics or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in data analysis. 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
