Batista and Danny Perez at the Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory. The successful candidates will work in a very dynamic multidisciplinary research team. The positions are in support of several exciting research projects including coordination chemistry, chemical bonding and reactivity dynamics studies using electronic structure approaches, and methodology development and application for long-timescale methods for molecular dynamics at the quantum level. Particular areas of interest include:
Dynamics and kinetics of chemical reactivity of actinide species in gas and liquid phase
Chemical bonding, spectroscopic signatures of organo-metallic systems
Chemistry and dynamics of catalytic behavior of metal oxide surfaces
Development of semi-empirical methods for heavy elements
Machine learning approaches for efficient exploration of chemical space
Long-timescale atomistic methods for chemical systems
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to carry out independent and collaborative research.
A solid fundamental knowledge of relevant computational methodologies and fundamental chemistry, such as quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and rate theories
Extensive experience with major quantum chemistry and/or condensed phase electronic structure computational packages.
Demonstrated ability to communicate both technically and interpersonally both orally and in writing.
Education/Experience: A Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry, Physics, Computational Science, or closely related discipline, earned within five years of the employment start date.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience using large-scale high performance computing resources.
Experience in developing new simulation methodologies, especially that address challenges relevant to long-time simulations.
Experience with developing or maintaining scientific software.
Experience with running and analyzing molecular dynamics simulations.
