Encodia is a rapidly growing platform company that is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein sequencing easy and ubiquitous by using a novel reverse-translation technology that turns peptide sequences into DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies. Encodia is seeking to recruit a scientist to apply machine learning, cheminformatics and structural modeling methods to build predictive models of protein binding interactions. The role will include identifying opportunities to apply computational methods; developing algorithms and models; and analyzing complex data.

Qualifications:
  • PhD in Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience building machine learning models to associate chemical structure with function.
  • Experience analyzing large scale data, and familiarity with statistical analysis and machine learning.
  • Experience with biophysical modeling, including molecular dynamics simulations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with and support multiple groups across the organization.
  • Programming experience in Python as well as some strongly typed language (e.g., C/C++/Java).
  • Experience with command line Linux environments.
  • Experience using, setting-up, and maintaining cloud-based computing environments (e.g., AWS/Azure).

Please let us know if you require a vaccination accommodation and a member of our Human Resources team will contact you.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Building models and applying machine learning techniques to predict binding interactions.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining novel modeling pipelines.
  • Conducting high-throughput virtual screening utilizing modern computational techniques such as quantitative structure activity relationship models.
  • Identifying interesting chemical and biological libraries.
  • Collaborating across functions to identify opportunities for biophysical modeling.

BENEFITS:

Encodia is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We offer a competitive and comprehensive employee benefits package including medical, dental, and vision, LTD, paid vacation, and a stock plan.

We do not discriminate in recruitment, hiring, training, promotion or other employment practices for reasons of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital or veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected status.
