The Comprehensive Energy Management, Data Science Analyst supports university’s enterprise-wide utility cost and utility efficiency objectives by using data analysis methods, such as mathematical computations, and multivariate regression analyses of large utility cost and/or usage data sets. Developing predictive models that may include but not be limited to long-term strategic utility planning and budget development, utility cost and rate forecast models with complex data sets include market prices and forward curves, internal costs, and utility consumption data. The Comprehensive Energy Management, Data Science Analyst conducts thorough data analysis working with general guidance from the senior and/or associate directors of the unit. Cleans complex utility datasets, identifies and addresses missing or inconsistent data, standardizes data formats and ensures data accuracy. Identifies and employs appropriate estimation and modeling methods for diverse, complex, and issue-laden data. Uses APIs and other analysis techniques. Uses off-the-shelf analysis and visualization software to create static and interactive reports and dashboards. Develops and implements data quality assurance processes.

This position supports the operational goals of the Comprehensive Energy Management Team, servings as the primary utility invoice and invoice data manager overseeing third-party ESCO contract(s) for invoicing and providing quality assurance on the invoice processing through Workday. Serves as the initial responsibility for analyzing and tracking the capital improvement project expenditures of the university’s utility systems concessionaire.

The Comprehensive Energy Management, Data Science Analyst will periodically produce reports, tables, and figures of aggregate utility statistics for presentation to unit as well as to senior leadership and other constituencies. Assists the associate and senior director with drafting of requests for proposals, utility contracts, and related scopes of work agreements. Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement through ongoing review and refinement of existing solutions. Work effectively as a team member and maintains a positive relationship and open communication with the team.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in applicable field and/or applicable combination of education and professional experience.; two (2) years of professional experience which may include data analytics, invoice management, business operations analysis, or other applicable field; proficient in Microsoft Excel; ability to communicate complex data analyses visually and/or in written text to a general audience, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to data security and analytic accuracy is essential. Must have excellent organization and time management skills as well as the ability to multi-task.

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree in applicable field. Three (3) to four (4) years of professional experience which may include data analytics, invoice management, business operations analysis, or other applicable field; knowledge of general utility data types including energy usage, power demand, utility markets, and utility commodity supply contracts; experience with OnBase, basic conversation skills in French; familiarity with Tableau.

Additional Information:

The Target Hiring Range for this position is $67,700 to $75,000.
