Scope of Job | To manage and provide administrative oversight to comprehensive competitive sports and camp programs which includes intramural sports, extramural tournaments, sport clubs and camp programs. |
Description of Duties | • Responsible for the administrative oversight of a comprehensive intramural sports program, which includes staff development, leagues, tournaments, special events and extramural events. • Plans, develops and manages intramural sport leagues and tournaments including officiated and self-officiated team or individual/dual sports. • Manages and forecasts the budget for intramural, sport club and camp programs. • Oversees the management of the youth camp program, including budget oversight and operational policies and procedures. • Develops and implements standards for attainment of program goals and objectives. • Responsible for the supervision of a comprehensive sport club program by serving as a liaison to clubs, providing leadership and mentoring to club officers and members. • Reviews, develops and administers all Sport Club program policies and procedures and makes necessary updates for improvement of program activities. • Coordinates schedule requests for practices, events and tournaments for Sport Clubs. • Oversees policy review for the competitive sports and camp program to ensure safe and enjoyable recreations opportunities for student participants. • Plans, develops and executes outreach and marketing strategies to promote assigned programs. • Oversees risk management/assessment strategies related to competitive sports and camps. • Completes required monthly reports and compiles semester/annual statistics. • Works collaboratively with Residence Life, Student Life and other campus partners. • Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance. • Works on special projects as assigned. • Performs other duties as assigned. |

Required Education | Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Sports/Recreation management, Kinesiology or closely related field from an accredited university. |
Preferred Education | None. |
Licenses/Certifications | CPR/AED and First aid certification |
Required Experience | Four (4) years of experience working in intramural sports and administration and/or managing sport club and programs or experience working with youth camp programs in a recreational setting. |
Preferred Experience | Experience obtained in a university setting. Sports officiating experience. |
Equipment | Use of standard office equipment. |
Working Conditions | Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment across the Rio Grande Valley. |
