Acting as a Faculty Compensation Analyst 2 within the School of Medicine, this position will report to the Faculty Compensation Manager and will be a core member to the Faculty Compensation group in the Dean’s Office within the School of Medicine.  This role will have a critical part in ensuring data integrity for all aspects of faculty compensation analytics.  This role will also provide assistance and support in administering the annual salary program and will provide analytical support to the faculty compensation manager and director. 

The Fiscal Affairs group within the School of Medicine provides quality financial and budget data, oversight, analysis, reporting, operations, and sound financial management counsel to our user community. This group is composed of four distinct operating units - Controller, Budget & Financial Planning, Faculty Compensation, and Business Process Improvement - which provide essential financial services to the Dean’s Office and the School’s Departments and Programs.

Duties include:

  • Participate in and/or assist in conducting salary surveys and perform market competitive analyses to determine pay trends and practices to support development of the annual salary program and advise on individual employee pay decisions. 
  • Provide QA support to ensure data integrity in various faculty compensation related systems, including developing scheduled or ad hoc audit report, researching on the discovered discrepancies and resolving the issues.  As an example; the analyst will pull reports from BI to analyze what data does not match with what is on file, and collaborate with the BI team to solve these discrepancies.
  • Provide research and analyses for purposes of developing and/or revising existing programs, policies, and/or practices.
  • Assist in data collection and data reconciliation needed for faculty compensation projects as needed.  The analyst will retrieve multiple data across the school, creating charts, graphs, or other write-up for analysis purposes for the manager to review.
  • Assist with review and data entry throughout the annual faculty salary program.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Human Recourses or Compensation Professional designation is desired. 
  • Working knowledge of any human resources information systems including; data mining, reporting and designing dashboard.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet and Adobe

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Demonstrated experience with salary survey participation, market analysis, job evaluation, and base pay compensation plan design and administration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically, Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and computational/statistical skills.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), consultation, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of compensation practices and trends.
  • Working knowledge of and/or experience in applying federal and California state and federal wage and hour regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand/walk, sit; frequently use a perform desk based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone, write by hand, sort/file paperwork, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl.
