Functioning under the direction of the Associate Director of Healthy Habits, implement health education efforts to improve the health of communities served by the Healthy Habits program. Primarily teach Health Habits elementary curriculum to partner schools, assist with curriculum and materials development, and implement program evaluation plan. Additional job responsibilities include facilitating trainings for teachers, implementing summer and afterschool programs, provide resources and technical assistance to partner schools, and assist with other community programs as needed. Assists with expanding existing community partnerships and building new community partnerships. Assists with communication of programs to community participants, and partners. On-going curriculum enhancement and planning Healthy Habits provides education and technical assistance to support healthy eating and physical activity among school-aged children and their families. The overall goal of Healthy Habits is to reduce the risks and impacts of obesity in communities of need. Healthy Habits is a Community Benefit program of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.


Requirements:

Education:

Bachelors degree required in nutrition, public health, community health or related field. Masters degree preferred.

Bilingual (Spanish and/or Korean) preferred.

Digital literacy – working knowledge of Windows or comparable system, presentation development, email, browsers, spreadsheets, etc.

Experience:

A minimum of two years’ experience working with community health settings required. Experience working directly with children required. Experienced in community partnership building in diverse communities.

Must have a passion for health education and for working in vulnerable communities. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and attention to detail, showing a high level of care and thoroughness in handling details of the job. Demonstrated ability to work independently, using sound judgment, and in a well-organized manner. Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues and work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve program goals.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift packages up to 50 pounds. Ability to walk throughout Medical Center’s campus and around community sites. Frequent sitting, standing and walking. Must have transportation to travel daily to community sites and current California Drivers license.
