Position Summary
The NC Institute for Public Health, the service and outreach arm of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health is hiring temporary staff to assist with data management and analysis tasks for several community health assessments. The staff person will aid in compiling and reporting secondary data, and in cleaning and analyzing survey data. Tasks will include identifying secondary data sources, managing and cleaning datasets in statistical software packages (SAS and/or R), analyzing secondary data, applying survey weights to survey data, calculating weighted and unweighted frequencies, means and descriptive statistics for data and within relevant stratifications, generating summary tables, and potentially assisting with developing data visualizations. Expertise in the following is of particular interest: data management and analysis, community assessment, community-engaged research, proven ability to work well with clients/partners/students, strong communication skills, ability to work on multiple projects at once within a team-based environment, and strong writing skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Detail oriented and able to work independently and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in SAS and/or R, and Microsoft Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strongly prefer formal education in public health at masters level. Experience with data visualization is preferred but not required.
