Knowledge of higher education enrollment strategy, the student enrollment experience, strategic marketing, communication and public relations principles as well as design software. Experience in conceptualizing and developing written content to reflect distinct voices and to appeal to different audiences and effectively use call-to-actions to influence audience behavior. Ability to provide copy editing and proofreading services when needed. Excellent command of English. Strong organizational and time management skills; and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, with careful attention to detail. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, customer service standards and ability to work and lead in a team environment. Technical knowledge of Marketing Cloud and Salesforce applications. Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines.

Three years of full-time employment as a professional writer in higher education or in a higher education position that would give close or first-hand experience with the target audiences (students, family members of students, faculty) including promotional writing for those audiences. professional experience with design or copywriting software programs; demonstrated proficient verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrated attention to detail and instructions. Excellent PC skills and proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, and Adobe InDesign.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in creative writing, English, communications, journalism or other related area required, Master’s degree (or other graduate-level degree) preferred; professional training in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Audience/persona-based writing preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 78, based on education and experience.
