Position AnnouncementUtah Valley University is seeking a part-time Communication Specialist! The Communication Specialist collaborates with University Marketing and Dx leadership to design and execute outreach initiatives and coordinate the effective promotion of Digital Transformation (Dx) services, departments, and events. Manages the development, planning, and creation of content for electronic (email, web, etc.) mediums and print materials for Dx. Assists product owners and Dx executive leadership to disseminate information regarding all products, activities, and services both internally and externally.
Summary of Responsibilities- In coordination with University Marketing and Dx leaders, designs promotional materials, including brochures, posters, ad copy, and web content. Creates and edits engaging content for all Dx events and announcements. Uphold campus style guidelines and graphics standards across all Dx marketing materials. Ensure that branding elements are integrated effectively to enhance recognition. Assists product owners and Dx executive leadership to disseminate information regarding all products, activities, and services both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with Dx departments and university entities to cultivate and expand audiences in support of Dx initiatives. Leverage communication channels effectively to reach diverse stakeholder groups and foster university community engagement.
- Partner with Dx’s web developer to oversee the creation and maintenance of websites, conference proceedings, and other web-based resources. Ensure that online content is optimized for user experience and reflects the Dx initiative’s objectives.
- Attend Dx events and liaise with executive leaders to coordinate program materials and venue branding. Act as a key point of contact for event-related marketing needs.

Minimum QualificationsGraduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree, plus one year of marketing/design experience OR a combination of relevant education and experience totaling five years.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Knowledge- Knowledge of marketing, public relations, and communications.
- Some knowledge of Dx-related fields and activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design principles and applications including the Adobe Suite.
- Demonstrated knowledge of web content management tools used by UVU, with a basic understanding of HTML.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Communicates clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
- Effectively demonstrates interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and public relations skills.
- Works independently on a multi-task level, to prioritize, and to follow projects through to completion.
- Strong copy-editing skills.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to design and produce attractive web pages, emails, brochures, posters, and other publications.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse personalities in a high-stress environment.
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and the completion of last minute projects.
- Ability to think strategically; be a self-starter; and to collaborate, build rapport, and work with others in a team environment.
