The Communications Specialist is responsible for implementing Leadership Education at Duke Divinity’s strategic communications plan by designing effective and innovative communications including websites, videos, case studies, social media messaging, articles and graphics.

Leadership Education’s mission is to create lasting change by strengthening the ecology of Christian institutions that enable U.S. congregations and pastors to flourish. The audience includes those institutions whose mission is the formation of Christians and who have the strength to have scalable impact: denominations, seminaries, church-related colleges, consultancies, large membership congregations and Christian non-profit organizations.

This position is 100% funded by a sponsored program that is currently funded by a grant through December 31, 2027.

  • Work with director of communications to develop and execute marketing strategies for various services across the department.
  • Develop website, video, case studies, social media and email marketing content to promote departmental programs and offerings.
  • Develop relationships with constituents to understand their needs and use findings in developing services and related marketing. 
  • Assist with the formulation of budgetary requirements for various activities; present program plan and proposed budget for approval. 
  • Assist with researching and writing policies and procedures; update policy and procedural manuals; obtain approval concerning new or revised policies and procedures. 
  • May research and respond to suggestions submitted to a department suggestion box; may research and prepare responses to complaints directed at the department; maintain liaison with department staff and persons outside of the department to coordinate activities associated with communications.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Education/Training:

Work requires communication and marketing skills normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience:

Work generally requires one year related experience in advertising, marketing, media, promotions or public relations OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
