Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Communications Specialist III for NJMS- Psychiatry. The Communications Assistant manages and helps coordinate all social media content, website administration, and marketing efforts pertaining to the Northern New Jersey Medication-Assisted Treatment Center of Excellence (NNJ-MATrx-COE) for the length of the grant. The NNJ-MATrx-COE is a part of the Department of Psychiatry at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and aims to increase statewide capacity to provide high-quality substance use disorder care to the residents of New Jersey via targeted education for healthcare providers and their staff.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Supports social media efforts with content generation, posting, and monitoring of accounts to forward or respond to comments as appropriate.
  • Provides website administration, including content updates and building new pages and programs as requested.
  • Assists with communications and marketing efforts via Constant Contact and other tracking databases. This includes list maintenance, periodical analytic reporting development, and distribution of emails via automation and manual push.
  • Creates marketing materials and informational pamphlets, program handbooks, leaflets, etc.
  • Aids in the execution of overarching NNJ-MATrx-COE marketing strategy so that all channels and campaigns are integrated, professional, and brand- and mission-focused.
  • As requested, assists in new projects in special areas of interest to the NNJ-MATrx-COE.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Must have proficiency with graphic design tools, such as Adobe products (Photoshop/InDesign) and/or Canva.
  • Must have proficiency with using Constant Contact.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, desired.
  • Candidates with a background in health communications (specifically substance use disorder treatment models, medications for opioid use disorder, and/or surveying) are preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Needs to occasionally move about inside the office if on-site. This position will require frequent communication with team members and community contacts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT;
Position requires working in a moderate noise office setting. Fast-paced, high pressure office environment; must be able to cooperate with a broad spectrum of staff.
